About Us:

HavocAI is an innovative defense technology company making scalable maritime autonomy a reality. We are pioneering an end-to-end solution for planning, tasking and control of uncrewed surface vessels (USVs). As we continue to quickly grow, we are looking for motivated individuals that are inspired to work within an extremely energetic, creative, and innovative team that is passionate about maritime robotics and exploring the open ocean. We work in a highly dynamic environment where collaboration and idea sharing are a way of life.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, prototype, and optimize electrical systems for an autonomous fleet of 1000s of attritable USVs. As an Electrical Engineer at HavocAI, you will play a critical role in shaping electrical architectures, power distribution, and communications, ensuring our systems are rugged, scalable, and production-ready.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where you’ll work cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers to take designs from concept to full-rate production, enabling the ability to manufacture up to 10 USVs per day. You'll be deeply involved in design, testing, integration, and on-water validation, helping transition our systems from prototype to deployment.

If you thrive in high-energy, iterative environments and are excited to build cutting-edge maritime autonomy, this is your opportunity to make an immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of electrical designs for USV systems and supporting components
  • Conduct prototyping and hands-on testing of electrical and RF systems to validate design concepts
  • Collaborate with engineers from different disciplines to integrate electrical components into our USVs and supporting systems
  • Troubleshoot and debug low voltage power and various communication systems (CAN, RS485/422, Ethernet, etc) during testing and validation phases. This includes assembling hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test fixtures to evaluate new components or assemblies, and enable consistent acceptance testing
  • Create and update harness drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions to support both prototype builds and production
  • Perform make/buy decisions and work directly with vendors to manufacture harnesses, PCBs, electrical assemblies, and wireless/RF networks.
  • Support manufacturing teams with design updates and improvements to facilitate smooth assembly and production
  • Document testing procedures, results, and design modifications as part of the continuous improvement process

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on hands-on work in prototyping and testing
  • Basic knowledge of electrical design, RF systems, serial communication, NMEA 2000 standards, circuit design and wiring/harnessing.
  • Enthusiasm for hands-on work, building and testing prototypes, and solving technical challenges
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn from real-world testing and integration
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with design tools (e.g. CAD), PCB design, and basic manufacturing processes is a plus
  • Experience with Maritime Autonomous Hardware

Location:

  • Must be able to work from our Rumford, RI office 2-3x per week or as needed.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The target salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000
  • 100% Employer paid Health, Dental and Vision Insurance for you and your families
  • Ability to participate in the companies 401k program
  • Unlimited PTO policy with an enforced 2 week minimum
  • Generous Equity Package
  • Generous work / home office Stipend
  • Global Entry Re-Imbursement
