We are looking for a talented Head of Finance who will build and oversee our internal finance capabilities
About the Role:
The Head of Finance will be a key member of our team, responsible for financial planning, accounting, cash management, and creating our financial infrastructure. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the financial operations of a company at the forefront of innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, with experience in automating processes and a keen eye for reporting and analysis. Experience in fast-paced startups or government contracting is a plus. In addition, they should have excellent communication skills, be highly analytical and detail-oriented, and possess exceptional leadership and management skills.
The Head of Finance must also be able to work well under pressure and be comfortable with uncertainty. As a startup grows and evolves, the financial needs of the business will change, and the Head of Finance must be able to adapt to these changes quickly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning and Budgeting: Collaborate with the management team to develop yearly financial plans and budgets aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
- Financial Forecasting and Modeling: Utilize financial models to forecast financial performance and predict future revenue and expenses, enabling informed financial decision-making.
- Fund Optimization and Cash Flow Management: Optimize the use of financial resources, minimize expenses, and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient funds for daily operations.
- Financial Processes and Systems: Establish financial processes and systems that facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting, including the creation of financial statements and reports that reflect the company's financial health.
- Financial Analysis and Decision Support: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement, and support decision-making through cost-benefit analyses and other financial assessments.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banks, investors, and other financial institutions, including negotiating financing deals and managing relationships with lenders and investors.
Qualifications:
- Must be a US Citizen
- Degree in finance
- Modeling and Budgeting expertise
- At least 8 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, auditing, or a related field
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding/experience with government contracts
- MBA
- Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and Certified Treasury Professional (CTP).
Location:
- This position must be located in the Greater Boston area.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The target salary range for this position is $140k-180k
